Short lines of communication

We are a small team. Everyone knows each other. If I want to know something, I just walk up to someone. No tickets, no requests, no four people who need to have their say first. That makes a huge difference.

Our office is in Amsterdam and we are there almost every day. Not because we have to, but because it simply works better. We have lunch together midday.

The ping-pong table

We also have a ping-pong table. Yes, the cliché is true. After lunch, it's a fixed ritual: someone stands up, grabs a bat and suddenly the four of us are laughing at a game that takes much longer than it should.

A diverse team that still works

What I like about our team is that we are not alike at all. Different studies, different previous jobs, some from Amsterdam, others not. Men, women, all different backgrounds. In practice, it works.

And there is a lot of laughter. Every day. Even on busy days. Maybe especially then.

For me, that is what sets a scale-up apart. Not the ping-pong table or the fact that we switch gears quickly, but that you are really building something with this specific group of people. And that after a day of work, you still feel like playing ping-pong with those same people.
