TL;DR — In 30 seconds
The entire Giffy team was in a boxing gym in Hoorn a week ago — in Giffy sports shirts, with CEO Pascal as trainer.
An hour and a half of serious technique, partner exercises and a round of sparring.
Everyone became surprisingly competitive — and there were plenty of laughs.
For me, this is also why we are a B Corp: investing in each other is part of that.
I am Emma, Growth Marketing Manager at Giffy. Last week we did something as a team that will stay with me for a long time. In this blog I will take you through it.
💡 Why Giffy is writing this
Giffy builds gift card infrastructure for businesses. We believe in a transparent chain — from issuer to recipient. But behind the platform is a team, and how we treat each other is reflected in how we work.
Pascal as boxing trainer
Last week I was in a boxing gym in Hoorn with the whole team. All wearing the same Giffy sports shirt. Pascal was the trainer. For an hour and a half.
To be honest, I had imagined it differently. I thought: okay, hitting a bag a little, sweating a bit, done. But Pascal takes it seriously. Genuine technique, partner exercises, a round of sparring. Halfway through, I felt muscles I didn't know I had.
Competitive — and plenty of laughs
What I didn't expect was how competitive everyone became. Not in an annoying way, but rather: okay, if you can reach that number, then so can I. That suits us, I think. We all like to win.
And there were plenty of laughs along the way. Someone accidentally hitting their own face with their glove. Someone else who turned out to hit much harder than we had estimated. Those little things that you can look back on weeks later.
Why this is part of being a B Corp
For me, this is also why we are a B Corp. Not just because of our clients or our CO2 emissions or that entire list of tick boxes, but also because we think it is important to invest in each other. Doing something active together is part of that for me.
Afterwards, we all went out for dinner in Hoorn. Everyone was tired, initially a bit quiet, and then we had conversations that you don't easily have at the office. About home. About what we want next year.
